You could ask for immunity from things they have caught you for in the past, but not from all future busts.  There are so many different jurisdictions that no one could possibly make that promise.

Its never a good idea to turn in a family member.  Perhaps you can teach them the error of their ways, or maybe life will teach them the lesson instead.  Either way, you should stand back and watch the fireworks from a safe distance.

If you give them info, that greatly increases the chances that they will bust you for something else. Its common to narc on someone, then the cops let it slip to that person that you narc'd on them, so they narc on you for something else in revenge, resulting in many more total charges.  Its a downhill spiral that you can easily avoid.

The only proper thing to do is politely refuse to have any discussions with the FBI & DEA, especially if they arrest you.

Just clean house, stay quiet, make sure your housemates know that they are always best off staying quiet as well.

Any lawyer would tell you not to tell them anything.  Especially given that you haven't been charged.  There is no time and place that it is ok to narc on someone, however if you were so inclined to sell your trustworthiness and soul in this manner, now is not the time.  If you get charged with a bunch of heavy crap and then there is this guy who screwed your family over terribly, you could make a decision on that at a much later date, with a lawyer involved.  If you say anything too early, you are just doing law enforcement a huge favor and helping their investigation along as you forfeit all your bargaining chips.

Yea, if you aren't ready to hire a lawyer now, at least talk to a couple of them.  They will do a free consultation and tell you what they can do for you, and hopefully they will slip a bit of legal advice into their sales pitch.

Next time the feds come you can say that your lawyer advised not to speak with them until he is present.

If they charge you you'll need to hire one, otherwise you can probably get away with free consultations.  You can ask questions like "If I hired you, how would you handle my case?"

A couple free consultations should make you feel a lot better about standing up to the man.

This isn't the best source but it is a story of someone going to the DEA and getting absolutely no help at all and having their life put in danger because of it.

Edit: whoopsie the link

> Get a lawyer

Get a lawyer.  You have to be careful, as there are different types of immunity.

Are they offering you immunity for something they've busted you for already?  If not than simple answer; don't tell them a fucking thing, keep your mouth shut.  If it is "big time" than you might end up dead.  If they have something on you than you should hire a lawyer before saying anything else to them.

Freedom - I did not know that Krystle Cole was involved with Gordon Todd Skinner (individual who narked on Pickard).

That story is intense.  She has terrible judgement.  She is also a nark herself.  There is no such thing as "narcing out a narc".  You handle your business (whether violently or non-violently) by yourself and/or with your close associates (however many people that may be.

I can't fathom why Pickard would have trusted Skinner

There are a lot of weird sub plots that came out of the Pickard case. For example Pickard was suposed to go to Afgahnistan to negotiate trading an Afgahni drug lord for stinger missles. What? What kind of LSD chemist does that?

Bit Skinner was blood brothers with Richardson... Pickards best friend, so I can kind of see why he was so easily duked there.  Still...

Another narc from the Pickard case couldn't keep his narcing a secret - John Halpern. If a Harvard professor can't arrange to keep it a secret...

Furthermore, theyre not going to give you immunity and when trouble comes knocking they'll leave you high and dry. Can't trust cops.

They will tell you they'll give a plea bargain or immunity but in reality the police have no such power at all. They lie to get you to roll over and when you do they nail you and the one you snitched on and everyone involve and often times let them know it was you who snitched.

Feds are worse than cops. Even if you get witness protection which you wont likely get, eventually they leave you high and dry and then youre fucked. In the end, itll catch up with you.

An acquaintance I knew through a family friend, had snitched on her husband a few years back and even helped by turning in DNA evidence against him in the suspected murders of 3 civilians and a judge. You know what? My friend attended her funeral 3 months ago.

Sometimes people dont get the charges, you think they will or the charges dont stick and then theyre out and youre unprotected.

GTA, so what? I dont agree with GTA but it's not the worst crime nor a huge deal.

Transporting drugs. So what? Im sure tons of people you know are guilty of that.

Why are you even here.

You sound like the kind of person who shouldnt be here. Nay, correction, you sound the like kind of person who people dont want here.
