Will different strains kill each other?

Let's say I was going to attempt casing. To case I must crumple up different cakes. Assuming I cased two gulf coasts and two amazonians in the same fruiting dish, would they compete and kill each other off?
I'll probably do all of the same strain in a fruiting dish just to be safe, but I've never seen this question answered in any of the FAQs.
Thanks guys, love the site, very informative.

ive read that phrase used before also, by wat ive read the mycelium fights for the food, so basically wouldnt that mean the mycelium would fight till the both fully colonized the substrate. if thats true wouldnt they both pin since the other mycelium wouldnt actually take over the Whole other half.

There are cases where the two strains lived in harmony and both fruited.

ok that all makes sence, i think people hear kills and thinks its like real bad, but they would just grow along side each other.

I have growin some next to each other with out any problems. one strain may be stronger but the other strain is still there and will fruit sometime down the line. I have put TC + PR , KS+CAMBO so far they seem to work out good together. I'm trying GT + TAZ now.

Pictures were posted some time ago showing two different strains growing in the same casing.

Iv cased two strains together and it worked fine. It was cambos and Haw. I put the diff strains on op sides. It was nice because they had dif fruiting charicteristics so one side would flush some light gold tops then the other side would flush some nice dark tops. Pulled all most a dry oz of a shoe box In the centerwear they met there wasnt to much fruiting.

I think that this has been answered pretty well, but from what I've found, they simply compete for the nutrients. When they nutrients run out, they won't "fight" or destroy each other. The more aggressive mycelia will spread more rapidly, and thus have more nutrients, and most likely larger and more fruits.
It would probably be in everyone's best interest to case the strains separately, although it would look really awesome to case PCs and the luminescent strain that glows in the dark together....
