?Humidity?
    #1182588 - 01/01/03 08:35 AM (13 years, 11 months ago)

These dam hydrometer you buy all seem to suck and it confuses me not knowing what the real humidity level is my terranium. I have 3 kinds one is digital the other one is a wireless unit inside the terranium. The digital reads 99% the wireless reads 69% and stable. There is water droplets on top of the terranium cover as well as the sides. I have a casing inside there at the present moment. Anyone with accurate hydrometers please let me know and if where I could buy a accurate one. Thanks

I think you should calibrate your hygrometer.
Check this website.

Good luck !

Let your digital one 'bake' inside a hot car for a day or two and then reset it (take out the batteries if needed). Some people have good luck with digital ones, others (such as myself) have horrible luck with them. A good 'cigar shop' hydrometer seems to work best for me.

if you have that much condensation, the digital is probably correct .
i would take the top off your terrarium for a little while and see if the reading drops .
i believe the optimum for fruiting cubes is 95% .if you dont do something to lower the humidity, your shrooms are gonna have fat arses.

If you are doing cakes, then yes. If you are casing, then that is way too high.

ewright, i missed that he is casing .

dentedshrooms, why do you need a hydrometer ?
what you need is ventilation, unless you're trying to gro slime mold .
if water is dripping from the cover, you're humidity is 100% !

I realize I must have the 100% moisture, I have water droplets on the cover but dont think its like dripping anything crazy. But the hydrometers are not reading accurate. Can I just place seran wrap over my casing and shut off the cool mister and let it colonize on its own until I can fruit it. Then take the seran wrap off and turn the cool mister on? I do have a bubbler going inside the terranium exchanging air.
