casing containers

i was just wondering why i haven't seen the use of disposable aluminum oven roasting pans for casing containers. they are available in any grocery store, are opaque, reusable, can be oven sterilized, come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes and are cheap. if there is any reason not to use them please explain - thanks

The mycelium eats right through the thin metal. Here is what it did to a thicker metal bread pan:

No, just leave it, it will be ok. You might want to use plastic containers in the future though.

You shouldn't have a problem, since as the mycelium growth binds the substrate together. However, unless you have ideal environmental conditions in place, the mycelium may begin to grow on the edges first. I suppose that you could place the metal container inside a tight fitting plastic one to prevent the unity from being broken if you're concerned about it.

I would also recommend plastic in the future.
