colonised brf pulling away from jars
    #1181045 - 12/31/02 02:48 AM (22 years, 22 days ago)

is it true that if the brf "pulls" away from the sides of the jars that it is too dry?

only reason I ask is because I read in the advanced forum it might do,
my jars are colonising ok just wondered,

also how should I remedy this, dunk when fully colonised?

If you got the water/verm/brf mix close to correct, you should not have any problems, if they pull away real bad, then yes, dunk them before you fruit them. most people here will tell you to do that no matter what!!

IF they do this, it just makes it easier to remove the damn cake from the jar anyways!

I'd suggest casing them instead!! real easy, and better results!!

The shrinking is normal and your cakes are fine. After you birth it - dunk it!

This is common occurence. Because the network of mycelium has established itself and is "absorbing" nurtrients, the cake will tend to get a bit smaller.
