RipvanBongBowl said: "loph" means peyote? sorry to fuck up your thread but ive always wondered a lot about peyote... like ive heard you have to grow it for like 25 years before you can eat it and a bunch of other myths can someone clairify this?
Most of our members would NEVER eat their children.
"Lophophora williamsii (pronounced /loʊˈfɒfərə wɪlˈjæmsiaɪ/), better known by its common name Peyote, (from the Nahuatl word peyotl), is a small, spineless cactus[2]. It is native to southwestern Texas and through central Mexico. It is found primarily in the Chihuahuan desert and in the states of Tamaulipas and San Luis Potosi among scrub, especially where there is limestone." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peyote

i wouldnt eat my children...but i would eat a nursery grown lophophora given the legal opportunity.
there are a number of myths about peyote and eating...25 years is bullshit.l its just ignorance that spread into "common knowledge".
*you can eat smaller peyote *grafted plants ARE active *plants from seed take less than 5 years to good usable size in most peoples care *loph=a lazy way to say Lophophora (yes, i am that lazy), which is the genus name in which peyote is apart of. you want the species "Lophohpora williamsii" though.
hope that clarifies some stuff.

yeah dude i think id like to get some lophs too! do they grow like most other cacti? I got a huge cactus not sure what kind though but ive had it for years... me and a buddy a few years back went to a plant shop to find some San Pedros and after a while of lookin we found a rinky dink mom and pop store that had them so we bought like six! the old ladys all like oh you guys really like cacti huh? well we took on of the biggest blended it up with a gas station slushie and forced the vile liquid down! like an hour later i feel kinda weird but definitley not trippin! so we considered it a waste and sold the rest what did we do wrong? did we not eat enough? help me out ive asked this before but no one answered!

No one answered because this information is easily available in the search engine, erowid, and google.
Generally people don't bother responding to people who don't help themselves, around here.
Thanks for the thread jack.

Indeed... This section is strictly for growing... Most of us here at the Garden are actually against the idea of eating Peyote (Lophophora Williamsii, "Lophs") mainly because it is pointless. If you are after consumption, than instead of making a huge, probably disgusting shake out of a cactus that you JUST bought... Why don't you respect the Cactus, buy one, grow it, and then harvest a good 12-14" piece, skin it down to the woody core, dry it in a food dehydrator, powder them and eat it that way or do an extraction or something... Cacti will be good to you, if you are good to it.... At least, IME...

In all honesty mate, are you sure you got the right cactus?
I see boatloads of people who can't tell a myrtillocactus from a trichocereus.
Also how much did you both eat each and how thick was it?

Nice seedlings, your lophs are much larger than my 1 year seedlings - they seem to have stalled, along with the A. retusus and all the pedros (but not bridgesiis, oddly).
the 'unknown cutting' is a Hylocereus undatus, or dragonfruit, if i'm not mistaken.
