I need a little help with a dryness problem
    #1175100 - 12/28/02 09:29 AM (22 years, 24 days ago)

Hello To all I have a little problem with some pint cakes (rye flour/ verm.) I think they may have dry out on me in the jars. They are in the incubator ( running 85-87F) but they have just stopped, I have filp them over but that has not help (they are allens, creepers and PRs). Some are about 75-80% done a couple are only 50%, What I want to know can I add some ster. water or should I maybe dunk, cold shock and case them or many break up and use them to spawn some other jars? What do you all think would be my best move? thanks for the help Dequilo

How long have they been incubating?

Have you got tape over your innoc holes? - if so remove it and wait.

Just drop down the temperature at 80F, wait some days and see if mycelium start over to grow. I would discard the idea to use it if partially colonized.

Sounds like they stalled or you have a bacterial contam.

I'd start some more jars if I was you....maybe open one and see if you get a sour wiff of a contam.
If you don't smell a sour smell....let them be and they might start back up in a few days....lower your temp to 81 to 84 degrees.

good luck!

Thanks Roadkill and everyone else who replied, I have lower my temp and started some more jars. I see no contamation but maybe, I will open one in a couple of days, I see in a few jars the rye flour/verm has pulled a way from the side of the jars. I am going to take a couple and try to spawn some horse crap only thing that can happen is I throw it away in the end, may have to do that anyways so I can not lose ethier way thanks Dequilo
