I've had them a couple times. I can't think of anything the flavor resembles. I think it's best when it's very strong. It sort of dares you to not like it. I know that's not very descriptive, but how would you describe the flavor of morels to somebody who has never had them? Truffles are more unique in flavor than that.
The most interesting way I've eaten them was using them to flavor honey and drizzling some over slices of pear. The flavor is almost overpowering that way. I could still taste them a bit for a hour or two.
