1. Fallout 3 [360, PC, or PS3] This has to be my favorite game of all time. This game kept me playing for months on end with always something to do. I didn't even expect much out of it till I played it. This is one of the best console games ever made. There is so much map to cover and that is without the add-ons. Its really bigger than console games normally are. With so much to do.. and best of all, ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT. If you kill the wrong person, you might piss the whole town off and they'll come after you, or put a bounty on your head and bounty hunters[Snipers, Assualters, Etc.] will appear through the map. So my advice, make 14 different save spots just in case you mess up somewhere and save often. This also recieved a perfect 10 in game informer the magazine.
2. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 [360, PC, PS3] This is one of the best first-person shooter games i've ever played online. The single player is pretty good too. Recently, they've started making it where you can level up and what not making your character stronger with better guns. This game takes it past the limit. You can control AC130's, Attack Copters, You can even nuke the whole map if you get enough kill streaks. The guns are very up-to-date with technologic weapons. I do warn you though, the single player mode has some really graphic missions... So if your offended easily, don't play it. This game also recieved a nearly perfect score in the magazine game informer with a 9.5 from the critics. Its definately worth any money you shell out.
3. Borderlands [360, PC, PS3] I just got this game for christmas, and I have to say this game has definately lived up to all the hype and commercials that has been going around. Its basically fallout meets mad max and there are over a billion different weapons [Literally]. The level cap is way higher than fallouts' though. There are many interesting quest you can do. All requiring different things. The thing that really keeps me going is, leveling up my character and getting better guns. You can choose from 4 different types of characters. The
4. World of Warcraft [PC] I've recently just started playing this. I converted from trial to a real account the same day I played it. Its everything you would come to expect a MMO to have. Tons of Quests, Races and Professions, and Possibly millions of combinations of armor and weaponry. Not to mention this game made number 11 in game informer as top 200 games of all time. With a whopping 11.5 million people playing [and counting], This game is a must have if you are into PC games. BTW. The maps are FUCKING HUGE! You would at least have to put years into this game to be near being the best.
5 The Guitar Hero Series [For All Game Consoles] I was very skeptical at first when I heard about GH3 because I was never into playing the real guitar.. so I figured this wouldn't be any different. I was wrong. This game takes serious skill and coordination on many levels. When you first start, easy is very hard. You have to train your reflexes to act on their own. You also have to learn to read the chart and strum according as the notes go by. This can be very fun for your friends, family, and/or spouse. If your a perfectionist, you'll spend hours practicing to master the hardest song GH has to offer. I have to admit though, The latest GH games such as Band hero and GH5 have really became a disappointment to me and many other players. On most songs, you don't play the guitar; instead, you play the synth/piano or whatever. But hopefully that will be the end of it. If you ever have any spare change in your pocket, grab a guitar and any of them games and ROCK ON!
Well, what does everyone else think? Name your top five.

Oblivion - PC Call of Duty series, all have been good Morrowind - xbox Unfortunately I have not played too many others lately that warrant a "top" rating from me. I am looking forward to Dragon Age when I get it though.

Of recent-ish games, and, in no order:
Metroid Prime 1 (but 2,3 also good) COD4: MW2 Mario Galaxy (Not deep but so insanely playable) Resident Evil 4 Half-Life 2
Damn! Writing this list makes me realise how out of the loop I am. I hope to put that right this year with Demon's Souls, GT5, Final Fantasy XIII (fingers crossed!), BlazBlue, God of War 3, More Metroid and more Mario.
I'm not a hardcore gamer though these days, just play what looks 'teh shit'.

Seems as if everyone is stuck on modern warfare 2 lol.
You guys should go youtube this. "Modern Warfare 2 mythbusters" They do crazy shit on there.
Like for example, they tested the theory that you would die if you knifed one of the mirrors in favala. And it actually happened. He knifed it and died :P

Oblivion and Fallout have been my fav's for a long time. But now I fear the torch will be passed to Borderlands and WoW.

I guess that makes games better. Is knowing you have so much to do and you will never run out of missions/quests.
Thats kind of like Fallout3 too.
I was skeptic about WoW and used to hate it just because I never played it.. Well I played it and i'm 110% happy that I did.

Has there ever been a videogame with a point? It's just for the fun.
