Would you also say that it's impossible to fall in love with a person that you haven't yet fucked?

How is sexual gratification a necessary part of romance? Aren't they two distinct phenomenon?

what the fuck is falling in love before having sex anyway? I would say I guess LUST is a better word, you lust after that person more and are entranced by the promise of the sex to come in the future.

So lust is required in order to feel romantic love towards another human?

Romance seems to be a state that requires sexual activity and attachment to the personality of the loved. Blah blah blah... but sex is the underlying theme..

I'm not saying that lust has absolutely nothing to do with romance, but to me, romance seems like something more inexplicable than putting your dick in a girl's pussy.

It's one thing to simply enjoy a style of life that one enjoys, but it's another thing altogether to refer to another person's choice as "wrong" or to rationalize their behavior as being pathological or resulting from some sort of inadequacy or failing so as to create a sense of superiority or separation as yet another projection of a personal fear or control issue.

with the definitions you gave us we can't come up with an exact answer..

the romance i am familiar with is something like a random kiss on the neck or a surprise hug to the back.  it's also a particular feeling that can't be known until felt and comes in many shapes and sizes.

But what is it? Why do human beings experience it? What purpose does it serve?

that's like asking why we feel pain.  what purpose does it serve?  that's like asking what purpose does a rock laying on the ground serve.  what's the point in getting caught up in subjective interpretation? :blazed:

It helps us survive.

Most of our behaviors serve a purpose, no? Why would romantic expression be an exception? :undecided:

you're answer is out of context.. the question ties in with the sentence after it...

Most of our behaviors serve a purpose, no?

to who, god?

subjectively sure, they can serve a purpose.  but what you're asking is pretty vague.

They serve a purpose to ourselves (e.g.- our sexual behavior serves the purpose of aiding us in reproduction).

that's what i meant.
romance can serve a purpose in that it can bring about noice feelings, and maybe some more passionate sex afterwards
or whatever, you get the drift.

Sexual reproduction serves a purpose.  Romance could just be an evolutionary side effect from our enhanced brain power attempting to master and optimize the sowing of the genes.

That's what I was thinking, but I think that it most likely serves a couple of more less important purposes.

So have we answered the question, "What, exactly, is romance?", yet?

yeah, getting your dick wet on the regular - with the object of that lustful physical gratification being this one person - with value being projected onto them via sentimental enjoyment of their presence and being... also when the idea of them comes to pass in us, but it fades when the said object of romance dies or leaves... Something like that........

Why are you asking us? You've been having sexual relationships since you were 5 years old. You should be qualified to answer your own question.
