Other than cubensis
    #1170204 - 12/25/02 04:39 PM (21 years, 3 months ago)

hey everyone.. I was having a little trouble trying to find information about strains of psilocybe other than cubensis.

Just wondering.. I know cubensis is one of the easier/more potent mushrooms to grow, but what other strains are also available for indoor growth that are either more potent or comparable in potency to cubensis?

I've read that Psilocybe Cyanscens Astoria Ossip were about twice to three times as potent as cubensis.. is this true?

azurescens is VERY hard to cultivate indoors. other strains: paneolus cyanescens, paneolus tropicalis, psilosybe mexicana and psilocybe tampanensis. But cubensis are stiil a lot easier to cultivate!

Don't even bother with azurescens at the moment, but look into cyanescens. They're potent and not hard as shit to grow.

tried to grow cyanescens a while back with little success. They were potent little buggers though. I much prefer growing cubes.

There is no mushroom named "Psilocybe Cyanscens Astoria Ossip."

It was a name created by Steven Peele of the FMRC in Fl9riuda to identify it for him. IT is Psilocyben azurescens, which is still called P. astoriensis by users in Oregon along the coast since that is where it was first colelcted and reported from.

And there are more than 186 species of magic mushrooms with psilocine/psiolocybine in them worldwide.

The Psilocybe cyanescens are, of course, the most potent specie sof psilocybian mushrooms.

And P. cyanescens and P. azurescens are cold weather shrooms. Harder to grow indoors than the Cubensis which by weight are usually the least potent of the various species requiring 3-5 grams dried and one to two fresh ounces for edesired effects.

Skryllz

is correct about my statement that P. cubensis are the least potent. Reread the post bvy me and you will see I am right in what I said and have a shroomy day.

P. cyanescens is the most potent of the shrooms on a worldwide scale.

Ha! Ps.Australiana is a mushroom that also does not exist used by Guzman and Watling in 1978 to incorrectly delineate it from the lectotype of Ps.Subaeruginosa!
Is there any analysis that indicates that ps.cyanescens is more potent than ps.azurescens or ps.arcana. Anno has provided alkaloid analysis that indicates the highest weight ratio content of these alkaloid in any mushroom ever measured - higher than Azurescens.
Gartz's studies of ps.cyanescens dont indicate that it is the most potent, although im sure you continued bioassays of this mushroom are the best indicator.
Ps.cubensis is a shit mushroom and its potency is not even comparable to panaeolus cyanescens - which is ofcourse less potent than woodloving varities like ps.bohemica, ps.cyanescens, ps.azurescens, ps.subaeruginosa, ps.eucalypta (im accepting guzman's delineation of this species until proven otherwise), ps.arcana, etc. etc.
Woodlovers are not that much harder than ps.cubensis - as wood is more selective so harder to contaminate - outdoor fruiting is usually required which is seasonal.
