My birthed cake. Photo

This cake was fruited a week ago last night. I dunked and rolled. The cake was covered evenly with vermiculite and almost no mycelium was visible. Now, a week later, it seems to have grown out through the vermiculite. Still no pins though. Also, if you enlarge the pictures, you can see what I would describe as a green hue in some spots on the cake. Is that weird? What do yall think?

They look fine just make sure the Rh is 90-100% and that they are getting air exchange and light and you should be fine!

The greenish blue specks are bruising. Are you misting daily and fanning out the tub a few times per day? Did you also give your cake at least a full week after 100% colonization for consolidation?
I spot what might look like primordia in the second picture on the bottom row, but I can't tell for sure.

Im keeping a 99% humidity with constant fresh air exchange. Does this cake look alright? Ive heard of overlay. Is this happening? What does primordia look like? I cant tell any difference from the picture you referred too as opposed to another.

Overlay is a relatively rare condition that only occurs when a cultivator waits too long to introduce a project with a casing layer to fruiting conditions. The mycelium becomes matted down with dead cells on top, preventing moisture from reaching the rest of the substrate. As P. Cubensis does not require a casing layer for fruiting, it's a pretty rare occurrence.
Primordia often looks like hundreds and hundreds of tiny, barely-visible white bumps on the mycelium. Eventually, these 'bumps' become pins.

that really doesn't look like the humidity is at 99%; there would be small dewy moisture on the cakes if that was true. check your hygrometer, then after you see that it is not accurate, you might want to resoak and drain your perlite, and possibly add more damp perlite to the fruiting chamber. maybe add an oscillating fan in the room your FC is in also.
keep us posted.

That looks like it will pin any day now. Just had a cake that took 3 weeks to pin.

You know... I was a little weary of that hygrometer. It wasnt mine. I just bought my own and put it in there yesterday. It says 98% humidity so I guess that other one was pretty close. And you wont believe how hard it is for me the find a clip on fan to buy around here!

In the last picture, if you open it up all the way, you can see that there are quite a few water droplets on it. Isnt this too much moisture? Or is this ok?
