i dont believe so.
the door is closed so no light comes in. O2 is pushed through so you can breathe. your ears dont float above the water so you cant hear.
again, i think the liability of having someone bound and gagged is just too great to do it.

It is a combination of the above details that fucks up a person's head, makes them go insane.
Any of you who are saying that you want to do this -- you're a moron, Im afraid.
That's the equivalent to saying something like 'yea I want to try out the gas chambers they used during the holocaust...I know the gas was bad for your health but I think it'd be really COOL to try out!'
Dont listen to this guy. Its just a tank with really salty water that keeps you afloat. Your ears are submerged under the water so you can not hear much. Some people experience OBES and some people hallucinate. Others find it just is good for very deep relaxation.
A couple people from Altered States tried the tank on set. William Hurt hallucinated and the chick (I forget her name) Found it to be "very relaxingiing"
Go for it man. If anything happens someone will be there to help you out. I cant wait to try it.

List of locations FAQ
It can be really profound, but on the other hand it's not some mystic thing that can make you permanently insane or whatever. I recommend trying it.

Sillybilly, maurer and upinthetrees either have absolutely no idea what they are talking about, or they personally have had a negative experience which gave them a bias.
If you are claustrophobic, or have anxiety issues and can become uncomfortable easily, then obviously deprivation chambers should be approached with some caution.
On top of this, the environment and head space you're in will also have a reflection onto your experience just like with all experiences in life.
Saying that someone is more likely to have a negative experience rather than positive, and that it would even be considered foolish to pursue using a deprivation tank, is complete idiocy.
Deprivation chambers are not always intense. You don't always hallucinate. Sometimes you just experience extremely deep relaxation.
I have always found the experience to be very positive and beneficial, feeling practically reborn kinda like after an intense trip or deep meditation.

That is utter nonsense. Where are you getting this from?
I have read probably a dozen books on the subject including several by Dr. John C Lilly, the inventor of the tank.
Eyes are NOT blindfolded, you are NOT gagged and you CAN move.
Virtually every person who had a tank experience reported it as being highly pleasant.

Ive never been in an actual tank.
I tried to make my own at home.
I filled my bath tub with epsom salts, dawned a home made black out mask, ear plugs, etc and lay back in there for a while. I did it onetime with chewed salvia too.

You would some means of temperature control of the water to get a similar effect using a bath tub. A traditional float tank controls the water temp to precise levels so that your body has a hard time recognizing the boundary where it ends and the water begins because the temperature is the same.

I read that 95% of people enjoy and finish their whole time in a sensory deprivation tank. Out fo the 5% of people who left early or did not enjoy their time, had a potentially serious mental condition.

During a float the body is flooded with endorphins, the body's own painkillers. The effects last up to two weeks.
