Can PC myc weather the winter outside?

I have some spent maza cakes... I wana start an outdoor grow in the spring, but thats a few months away. I really wanna break down my grow for now and be rid of the paranoia for a while. Plus I have some people coming to my house for some work. So, breaking them up as spawn is out. Does anyone know if it would be possible for myc to make it thru the next few months in a grow bed? It seems to me that tit could possibly just go dormant? I still have wood loving mushies popping up every where around here. But they do like colder environments. Anyhow, a normal day around here is 40 to 50 degrees F as the high, and 40 to 20 as the low. Do grow beds normally survive through the winter? Seems like they would or there would be no more next yr. I just don't know how much PC can take. Any incite to this would be very much app.

Using spent cakes as spawn is pointless. You want fresh rapidly growing mycelium and not stuff that is at the end of its life. Toss them and start over next spring.

Agreed. Plant the cakes whole if you like, but don't expect anything from them. Stash a spore print for next year.

actualy the cakes never did anything... so they realy arnt spent in the true meaning of the term... The just never fruited. Pinned well but never matured... Im realy tired of messing with em... I guess I will just toss em. Before I get a lecture on my FC, I have nice flushes still comming from other mediums. Its just these cakes are stubborn.

Bury them in a nice spot, see what springtime brings.
