Microwave sterilisation for rye seed
    #11741365 - 12/30/09 02:57 AM (15 years, 21 days ago)

Hi all,

I'm a new grower, only 1 of my 6 BRF/verm cakes even sprouted mycelium! This lonely cake isn't even fully colonised yet.

Anyway "my question is about the budget"...NO!

Can someone point me, or enlighten me with regrards, to any microwave sterilisation teks for rye seeds cause I think I'll try that next, as the PF is at ~17% success (so far). I don't have a pressure cooker either, the other 5 duds didn't have any green penicillin contams though.

Much appreciated,
einseins

don't think there are any that work well, get the pf tek down before you move on to grain, it sounds dumb, but if you have a huge fail rate with the pf, grain will most likely kick your ass, but to answer your question there isnt one that i know of that works well, gl

No such thing. And if you can't do PF tek, you aren't ready for rye anyway.

i do totally agree with the first 2 people... if u dont have a pressue cooker especially....

but i do know someone who couldnt do PF cakes(out of 4 attempts he got one cake that actually fruited), went to WBS and got about 90% success.

but he also had a pressure cooker which is a must for anything else than BRF

Once you get PF cakes down, you can use those to spawn to bulk.
So it's not like you need a PC for bulk, just for grains.

microwaves boil the water inside a food and would probably fuck up your moisture content....I wouldn't bother, just broil it in the stove and then hydrate or do it right and use a PC...
