First grow! (pics!!) * 1
    #1173188 - 12/27/02 05:47 AM (21 years, 3 months ago)

The germinated seeds were planted on the 19th and 20th of november, 2002.

I am growing them under an incandescent "plant light" bulb that cost me $2. It's working well, I don't think I'll need to buy a fluo or HPS lamp. The lady at the store told me that if the bulb was the right color, the plants would be able to use the light rays.

They're in 16/8 cycle. I don't know when I should flower them.

Advice / comments appreciated!

Wow, They grew kinda fast.

Have you been growing those under a plant light since they sprouted? They look like they're really reaching for that light.

If you refuse to get better light, atleast get a few more of those plant lights and maybe put like two shining down from the top and a few on the sides so it's adequately covered.

they are already too large for that light. if that light is all you are going to use you should flower them now. the plants may double or triple in height during flowering so you may want to crop them low first. the pots are also too small, but that tiny light is probably going to be the limiting factor.

you would easily get 10 to 20 times the harvest you are going to get if you got a real light. if using incandescents like that worked worth anything, everyone would be doing it.

neuro, yeah, I was surprised at how fast they grew too.

They do look like they're reaching for the light, because they're bending towards it. However, when I turn off the light at night time, they unbend.

I was growing them under the window for the first two weeks or so, but now I'm just leaving them there under the light.

I think I will indeed get some more of those lights. I'll probably set them up somewhere else than right next to my bed, too. It's time for me to put my electricity knowledge to use!

Bilge, thanks for the advice. I will probably get a fluo bulb, and a couple more plant lights...

I'm not looking for an amazing harvest, I just want a little pot to smoke. I already have lots, but I want to know how good it feels to smoke something I grew with my own bare hands!

I'll repot them tomorrow...

right on! my first grow was a couple plants by a window. i didn't even know what was happening when they began to bud and then i realized "hey, those are buds!" eventually i stepped up to a larger system and grew so much that i couldn't smoke it all and started making money. i don't do that any more, but it's all on the fun road of learning.

if you have the time/money/space to continue improving your hobby you will find that metal halide and/or high pressure sodium lights will allow you to grow more pot of higher quality in less space and less time. have fun!

Looks like they're stretching for the light. Nice grow though.

DOOD! If you ever plan on having BUDS, and not stringy pieces of leaf with a few red hairs, I'd suggest getting a fucking HPS NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!NOW NOW NOW!
Flower them NOW! The flowering cycle will still add about 2/3 of the highth of post flowering, and they WILL need better light....Even if you bought 4-5 more of those bulbs you have, it still won't be enough to get tight buds...Oh well, it's your first grow, good luck!
P.S. Any Idea of the strain?
Looks like a big sativa to me!

thats pretty good for one of those lights...if they only cost 2 dollars...maybe you should go back and buy 5 more.

whats the wattage on those bulbs?

Felix, they are 60w lamps.

I'll get a fluo, I don't have any money to spend on a HPS. I don't want a top-of-the-line setup, just a couple of plants, for fun!

sweet dude!

are those the bulbs that have that bluish film around the bulb?  flouros are ok....but if you do get flouros, get a bunch of smallor short ones instead of those huge long ones.

that's pretty cool, good luck

Yep, that's what I'm using... seems to be working alright for vegetative growth, it would probably suck for flowering though.

I shall keep you all updated! I'll put them in 12/12 tomorrow. I'll put them in bigger pots. I'll buy better lamps.

Sounds promising!

Well, I'm out to buy some better lamps!

I'll put the whole setup in my basement. I'll buy one or two other plant light bulbs, and a $30 plant fluo tube. I put them in 12/12 yesterday, but I think sunlight got in my room, from behind my curtains. However in my basement it's totally dark, and I'll use a timer, too. I'll find some bigger pots, too.

I'll post some pictures as soon as I'm done!
