LC to rye jar, first growth at the bottom

2 days after inoculation I have growth at the bottom of my rye jars. I gently rolled the jars after inoculation. The moisture content may have been off as well because these jars were sterilized two weeks before use. Should I shake them now? It seems my roll didn't distribute the myc very well. Would redistributing now be beneficial or detrimental?

I would leave it alone. It's cubensis? Let it grow out very large in the jar before you do any shaking. Especially since you used lc, the mycelium should be well distributed throughout the rye since it will flow threw it with the water. Just let it sit for a couple days. It would probably be best if you let it recover as well. I wouldnt do any more shaking or whatever until you see its about 40% colonized. By then it should have a good amount colonized where you can't see as well. Which would make it safer to shake once more then letting it colonize 100% without shaking it again. Luckily cubensis is very versatile unlike copelandias which a lot of times will cease to grow if shaken too much. good luck and post pics when you think its around 40% later on so that you can check with us to be on the safe side.

When shooting LC, I shake well to distribute the liquid when I shoot it, then I usually don't shake the jars again.

I usually end up shaking the jars 2-3 times before I put them into casings...

Too much shaking slows things down. If once is enough, stop there.

I don't know if rolling is as efficient as shaking. I think rolling is for MS and shaking is for LC. I don't know why I rolled it but is there a chance that it explains why the growth is starting at the bottom of the jars, or did it probably all just drip down to the bottom before I rolled it?
