What is the goal?
    #11735924 - 12/29/09 07:37 AM (11 years, 4 months ago)

Many on this forum use mushrooms and the like as a means to induce experiences for spiritual growth and self-exploration. Many incorporate yoga and meditation techniques into their routine as a means to further along their spiritual practice.
Many strive for enlightenment, for self-actualization, for truth.

But, within a lifetime of being on this path, where do you end up?

I don't see any truly enlightened beings out there. I don't see anyone with any ground-breaking truths to share. I don't hear of any success stories of people trotting away from culture and living the dream life of an awakened being.

Where do you think you are ultimately to end up? Is it more about the journey than the destination? What really is a practical ideal for the aforementioned type of people to live out and experience- in or out of our culture.

What is the dream life of an awakened being?
Someone divorced from culture?
Living like a hermit?

I didn't really mean that to be interpretted literally.. just so others could get the taste of what I was trying to say.
But since you asked-- And It's only my interpretation of it, but this is how I envision it.
Yes, divorced from culture (but that doesn't mean you can't periodically pay a visit).
But disconnected from the money system, from the media, from all the cultural stupidity.
Someone who is completely aligned with his values and his authentic self and does not waiver them for any reason.
Someone who is completely present, self-contained in the moment. Someone who is always in a state of flow. Someone who has no need for materialism, who has its basic needs met and that is enough. Someone who has completely learned to let go, who has no attachments. Someone who is in tune with the subtleness of nature.
Someone with humor, confidence, selflessness, empathy, passion.
And my own version of enlightenment is not being a hermit, but rather having a very deep and spiritual connection with your soul-mate, persay.

I don't think you should be concerned about what other peole are doing or how awake they are, i reckon you should become that awakened being yourself regardless of whether someone else does the same

If its one in a million, why not you?

Perhaps they don't feel the need to talk about their enlightenment.

Here's where you end up. Click to enlarge.

Good post btw. Enlightenment is nothing more, imo, then coming to terms with the foolishness of being a human primate. :satansmoking:
