doooooooood, just get a CFL in the 6500K spectrum (on the packing it should say that its equal to a 75 watt light bulb if im not mistaken), youll be good to go. or is this for some reason impractical for you setup?

ahhh ok. then the next best thing would be to get some LED lights (not christmas lights) which you could easily put inside or outside of your mono... they dont generate much heat at all... but on a side note, if youre tryin to grow in your parents place (im not judging, its just that ive found most people doing stealth grows are trying to grow at their parents place), I would hold off until youve got your own house/apartment/whatever

I have had large fruits with very little light exposure. The ones I am thinking of particularly where pretty much shielded inside my enclosed in a shadowy area I keep my gh's in without the lights on. It was kind of like a dim shade. But Mushrooms do like to have a cycle of about 10on 14off light cycles or 12 on and 12 off is fine too. Ive noticed on some of my grows when I had a bright light on the side of the greenhouse they grew bent towards the light. I can't remember the spelling but I think its called cyclidian rhythm?

Also to add, from what I have heard and don't quote me on this because I never actually went mushroom hunting, but according to many people the best place to find shrooms is usually under trees or shady areas that cattle have shit under.

^^ this is a good idea. prob just a thicker blanket would do though, dont you think? I would think a thin sheet of plastic would kind of be a fire hazard, no?

you still had light so its not the same as no light at all.

thats why you want indirect sunlight or it will dry things out. but fluorescent lighting wont do that.

Just fyi light is not a pinning trigger. The main pinning trigger is the lowering of humidity and increase in fresh air promotes pin growth and development.

lowering of humidity?! wtf? evaporation of humidity from the top of the substrate/casing layer is NOT the same thing as lowering of humidity

I swear he said the opposite but I probably got it confused with another poster in the same thread. This is what he said HOWEVER, light is a major pinning trigger. It serves it's purpose from day one of germination by helping the mycelium establish the circadian rhythms that nearly all life on earth depends on, and it's purpose at full colonization to help stimulate primordia is undisputed. Bright, high frequency light is superior to dim, low frequency light. RR My bad.
