use pre-made mycellium to colonize substrate?
    #11732362 - 12/28/09 03:35 PM (15 years, 23 days ago)

I inoculated 6 jars on dec 14th with a spore syringe.
Only 2 of the 6 jars produced mycellium.
Can't I take some of the mycellium from those two jars and put it in the rest? And wouldn't this be better than using a spore syringe since it will colonize faster?

Well the thing is I don't have a pressure cooker so I bought pre-sterilized jars from mushbox.com (They are verm/brf). The problem is I don't know how well these were prepared and if there was enough water in them. I also bought my spores from spores101 and the syringe was clear.
So with a shortage of moisture and very few spores, I suppose my chances weren't too great.
NEVER BUY FROM MUSHBOX.COM OR SPORES101.COM!!

Ya, I'll do that from now on. But in the meantime I've taken some mycellium from the 2 good jars and put it in the other ones. This will work wont it? Because if it does I don't need to buy any more spores, I'll just keep using pre-made mycellium.

sorry not that easy after a wile that will not work. you always have to go back to a spore eventually. so make some prints and you will be fine.
and what you did  might work depends on how sterile you were. hope it dose but i don't think chances are high at this point
