rye berries
    #11731496 - 12/28/09 12:55 PM (15 years, 23 days ago)

I was wondering and this is probably a stupid question . I have a couple 3 lb bags of rye berries that I inoculated and nothing seems to be growing .So my question is can I take those bags and transfer them to jars and sterilize them and start the project over?

What was your inoculation and sterilization procedure? Were the rye berries sterilized in autoclavable bags?

I purschesed the bags pre pasturised and inoculated them with 4-5 cc of PE and B+.I started a couple of 3 lb bags of rye berries on 12/15 and nothing is happing. This is my first attempt and I jumped in head first without trying to follow a tek and now after reading alot of stuff on this site. Ive come to the realization that I am going to fail.So today I went out and got a few supplies (jars and a Pc)I want to start the project over with having to buy more rye unless I have to.

I've never done 3 lbs of rye at a time, but I imagine that would take a lot of spores. Did you use enough? (I'm not sure how much is necessary for that volume).

What temperature are you incubating at? 78-82°F or so is ideal, lower temperatures just take a lot longer.

Why are you so sure you'll fail?

I don't see why that wouldn't work.
