I took a peak at my bulk sub experiment, and I found this yellow liquid collection on some of the substrate. what is it and should I be worried?

You'll need a closer and clearer picture of the yellow stuff, but the gray is cobweb mold. You need to hit that with some 3% peroxide until it melts away. Repeat twice again at 12 hour intervals. RR

water pooling. It's fine and normal.
Is this project still colonizing or is that the casing layer?

Your substrate looks a little wet. The stuff at the top looks like metabolites (is that a branch?), the stuff at the bottom looks like corn.

Your substrate looks too wet. Next time ring it out more to field capacity. I don't know about the cobweb though. Take more closeup shots of the grayish areas.

I sprayed the grayish area before I had a chance to take the picture, now it just looks to wet, and the pics don't turn out. I'm not sure if its cobweb mold either, but I'm going to listen to RR and spray it down anyways.
As far as the wet substrate, yeah I agree, its soaked. This is my first bulk grow though. It's a learning process. The next grow is going to be with coir and 5% chicken compost The grow after that I should be getting my tennstud hpoo.

Get some vermiculite too. Vermiculite will really improve the substrate if you can find it. I get 20lb bags of it for $25.

Are you suggesting the verm for this substrate, or the future ones?

Hopefully, you didn't pay for that in advance. RR

Damn it. When you say that I get a sinking feeling in my gut. Any reason for that comment, cause yes I did, I've been waiting for it for a couple weeks now.

I got my order from TennStud just fine back in late October, it only took a few weeks from order to delivery, and the quality was top notch.

i can't believe anyone pays for horse manure.
even if you live in downtown new york city, you could take a bus and a garbage bag and bring back 10 times more for 1/10th the price.
or just pay a few bucks and get some coir and get the same results

It's winter time right now, with temps around 20. The people I live with don't care for me drying manure in the basement. paying for it is going to have to be the alternative for the season.
