Questions on genetics

First, if I were to make an LC from a MS syringe, is the resulting colonized LC full of the same genetics? Or is the resulting LC as random as straight MS?
How does one select fruits for cloning based on potency?

its like ms. though in theory people have said that it is possible to isolate a strain through a long chain of lc to lc to lc to lc etc.

? how.
you can't isolate anything out of a liquid medium like that.

You should use agar to isolate out a few of the fastest and most rhizo sectors. Then use LC. You test for potency by actually growing the best looking mono strains out and keep the best.

you can't isolate anything out of a liquid medium like that.
because you can shake it up and separate it gradually after taking small amounts and letting it grow out and repeating

that has to be the slowest, most mundane way of isolating a quick growing myc isolat that i have ever heard of.
not to mention the incredible amount of work vs. yield.
you would be better off using cardboard and cleaning it up on agar when you where satisfied.

i'm not sure what you are inferring with your nonsensical reiteration...
but to "isolate" good genetics from a LC you would have to suck up the lc from your jar, inject it into at least 4 more jars, pick the fastest growing one, repeat, repeat and repeat etc. etc..
it's not worth it whatsoever.
by the time you had an "isolate" you would have blown through a few gallons of LC and at least a collective 24 hours of work.

It's not a hard idea to grasp. If you continue to cultivate using lc, over time you will narrow down the genetic diversity. Boom.

Well, you reduce the genetic diversity. You still have to test whether it's a 'good strain' by whatever criteria you choose, but it's less random than shooting spores each time. And it's possible it all anastamoses and becomes genetically homogenous anyway. But if not, you certainly narrow it down by expanding LC from a tiny portion. (Start the process with just a drop of spores, not a big glob.) However, You then face the same issue that g2g has with senescence. There's only so many times you can expand it like that. (Called 'generations' in some works, a jargon term that doesn't mean a spore-to-spore generation the way one would commonly think of it.)
So it's not necessarily 'useless' and can be helpful, but it's not at all a substitute for agar work and proper stain isolation
-------------------- You make it all possible. Doesn't it feel good?

i'm assuming you mean cloning to LC, and to that i say:
when i clone, i find that half the time, even if i clone a "Fast growing" or "large growing" fruit, that doesnt mean it will produce fast growing mycellium, prolific pinsets, or even a genetic isolate that will fruit at all.
this is why people isolate on agar, choose the leading and most rhizomorphic edge of growth, transfer, spawn, grow and then start over from the beginning again (and then do this multiple times to get a good isolate)
because cloning and isolating GOOD genetics isn't so easy as to just "clone fruit > spawn and grow mushrooms > clone fruit> spawn and grow mushrooms > clone fruit etc etc.
there isn't any "theory" behind it. it's mycology 101.

Thanks guys. I was hoping that if I made an LC that I'd be able to get consistent fruits from the same LC, but if it's (nearly) as random as MS then I'll have only made an LC that will suffice for one grow before I need to isolate on agar.
