no, i am not spending that at all. If you read the earlier post, i have a connect at a mfg facility so it wont cost me nearly what it would if someone paid full price. This is the only way that i could afford to do it. I dont know if the patent has been done yet, but if this works and it solves a common problem, i am sure i could raise the money for a patent. GG

yeah i read it, i wasn't aware you were getting such a price break though.
that's great!
what about the concern i raised in my last post?
will the "iris" be sharp enough to cut through the grain sitting atop the sally port, or is there some other way you are able to bypass this without allowing contams to vector through smashed grains in the corners of the master jar lid after you open and close it once?

Bear in mind, one of these devices will have to be placed on every jar you sterilize that will be donating or receiving grain to grain transfers. Be sure to make it inexpensive or the cost of a few dozen lids will outweigh the cost of a laminar flow hood, which is still required for agar work and the first inoculation of your grain master anyway. Nice idea, but think of the practical application before spending a lot of money.
One more thing to think about is keeping them small. If they protrude from the jar, they'll prevent as many jars from fitting into the pressure cooker at a time. I'm not trying to bust your chops, just bringing these things to your attention to think about as you engineer it. RR
