G2G Transfer Device - ( No Flow Hoods or Glove Boxes Required)

I have an engineering background, and i am about to have my first prototype completed for a G2G Transfer System. How it works is there is a special lid that has a screw valve on the top. Below the valve is a chamber that turns as you tip your Master grain jar upside down capturing a set amount of Colonized grains etc.., locking it on place air tight... There is another female receiving lid on the uncolonized jar the acts as a transfer chamber for the colonized grains. Once you tip the colonized jar completely upside down and screw the lid, the colonized grains dump right into the uncolonized jar. The lids will be standard plastic 1qt lids that many people use now. This system will revolutionize the way G2G transfers are done because the mechanism chambers will never touch outside air. I will send out the first 5 people that respond to this thread a free prototype when completed. I think it will make our lives so much easier.

I'd never considered it, but really now I can't believe this hasn't been thought of, I'd actually be surprised if someone somewhere isn't using something like this right now.
Good luck to you, hope it turns out well!

Thanks Random,
my boys family owns a manufacturing facility to i am able to get them made for fairly inexpensive. I am not looking to get rich or anything, just looking to make peoples lives easier. oh, and the lid sizes can be made for any jar if the demand is there.... GG

Yeah, I understand what you're saying, it would make large scale spawn production that much more approachable for a lot of people. Especially if using syringes for master inoculation, the whole process would be done inside sterile containers with little if any exposure.
You could even work on a female attachment (according to how complex the female attachment is) for spawn bags, which would appeal to small time commercial gourmet growers. Especially if it was something you could remove from the bags and re-use, but I have no idea how that would work, probably something you loop the opening of the bag through... I'll let your engineering background ponder that.
I'd definitely look forward to a prototype. Keep us updated!

Are you talking of building some sort of valve with an iris in the lid? I'm just curious how you'd keep the part of the lid before the iris/valve sterile, because the grains will pass through this area. Sounds like a nice idea if you can get it worked out. RR

hey RR,
The interior part of the lid will be sterile once it is pressure cooked. There will be a gap in the interior part of the female lid that opens when it is screwed on. There will be a device in the mechanism that slides out and the grains will be dumped directly in the jar you want using gravity. The grains will not touch any unexposed parts that touch outside air.It is a little difficult to explain in words, but i think i have something really cool here that could even be patent worthy. I spoke with an patent attorney before the holidays, and have an appt set up after the first to see if anything like this has ever been developed. The technology can be used for some many things if i can pull it off. It is a very simple concept. I will def keep you in the loop.

The first 5 people have to be actively doing G2G transfers on a consistant basis. I need feedback on the design. If you have never done G2G or do not practice this sort of tek on a consistant basis, please dont ask for one. Thanks.

I don't do g2g, because I don't have this device. So either send me a prototype, or sell me one when you have a working product.

so your spending $100,000+ for this?
wow.
sounds like a cool idea though, the grain might get stuck in the sally port though when attempting to close the master jar. have you figured a way around that? or will you just tip a little into it at an angle before resealing?
