Nice photo dump.  Have fun on the rest of your trip!  I am currently in Arizona raising hell and boring people with all the natural things I notice that they mostly take for granted :P

Edward James' 'Las Pozas' is one of my favourite functioning gardens, in my top 5 anyway.

Looks like fun times were had, thanks again for posting these pics. :sun:

Amazing dude! Here in America it doesn't seem like Mexico gets enough respect.  Beautiful country with amazing culture.  So true about the US having a cough and Mexico getting a cold, down there you can be a real baller-on-a-budget.  Making me jealous..

This is sad. There is still so much more to discover...just not enough time. I am leaving Mexico now - signing off from the Mexico City Airport Terminal.

The L. williamsii never has been found in the state of Queretaro - only diffusa. And I can tell you it was like a plague. We had to be careful where to step - seriously.  More than half the state is covered with it... of course there are going to be places that it has been detroyed due to farming an what not, but there are thousands of steep hills that do not support farming, and L. diffusa will always have a safe haven there.

I have no interest in eating wild peyote.... check out my links to see what I'm up to  ;-)) When I get back to my home, outside of Barcelona Spain, I will be planting more than 500 loph seed that my plants gave me last year...

My father-in-law says, 'when the USA has a cough, mexico has a cold'. That translates into very cheap prices for foriengers. We stayed at the best hotels, which were all pretty run down, but clean and charming still, and we payed like 40 € a night with two meals included.  In no way were we 'roughing it', my wifes a city girl.

You can go out to the hightway and eat corn on the cob (elotes), gorditas, tacos, amazing fresh fruit, and not pay more than 50 cents an item. Beer is like 50 cents a bottle also. My brother and law lent us his car so I'm not sure what the car rental would be like, but I sure it's cheap also.

Do you mean US cents or Euro cents? If US cents... that's fucking cheap. If that's in Euros, still a good deal, but not quite as good.

Also, when I was in Mexico last, they warned us about eating fresh fruit in case it had been washed with the water. I ate a decent amount of fresh fruit anyway though and never got sick...

Sounds like a good trip!

Here ya go -

A few photos of the fine specimen of various cacti that the state of Queretaro has tucked away out in in the desert. These photos were all shot in about 20 minutes....these little, and big, guys were everywhere.

Me and my wife stopped off the highway on our way out to the Sierra Gorda to take these photos... we ended up in Xilitla, a tropical zone.....I will post more pics of that place soon.

There's a possibility there may be some L. koehresii the further north in the state you go.

However, it's probably just an environmental difference.

A good example of cacti with variations in a single species would be the genus Copiapoa, some look like completely different plants sometimes!
