Monotub?

So I have been playing around with rye seed while waiting for my brf cakes to finish fruiting. I did my first g2g and everything went well I used 1 500ml jar to make 3-500ml 7-250ml I am going to use one of the small ones for grain lc. I have 4 other 500ml rye jars done with MS that are still colonizing.(This is where my grain master came from it colonized really fast, I had to do something with it lol)
My questions are: - What size tote to use - How big do I make the holes and how many holes do I make - How much rye seed do I need - Is coir and spent coffee a good way to go. - Should I wait and do another g2g with the 3L of rye to make 30L
I am not in any hurry to do any of this I think my brf cakes will be good for a few fun times over the next few months.
Thanks, Drevrens

your tote depends on the ammount of spawn ur using. And coffee and coir mix well with worm castings and vermiculite. And if all you have is 3 liters of colonized rye i wouldnt use it all to make liquid culture.

use a ratio of 1:1 for spawn/compost. Use straight coir b/c their is no need to pasteurize it.

Here are some good monotub tutorials:
http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/7490393/an/0/page/0

RR does recommend pasteurizing coir. There was a big debate thread about this recently and pasteurizing coir came out as the best way to go.
Monotubs tend to be relatively tall, probably better to avoid a short one.

Ok so I am at the point where I now have 7 500ml jars and 6 250ml jars (total 5L) of fully colonized rye. I don't want to let it sit for much longer so I am gonna have to get started on this today.
I am pretty sure I have figured out how to make a monotub. I am unsure as to the care and precautions I need to take throughout the proses tho.
Do I mist and fan a monotub the same way I do with my shotgun fc?
I am going to be using tyvek to cover the holes and I will be using Verm, coffee and coir. 1Brick coir, 1L verm, 1L coffee, 1G water 5L spawn. Does that sound about right? I think I am short 1L of spawn, do you think it will work all the same?

Dude I have no idea what I am doing lol I am just gonna wing it like I did with everything else and hope for the best.
5L spawn, 1L Verm, 1L Spent coffee, 4L water, 1 Brick of Coir. Boil the casing for a bit let it sit till its cool(overnight) dump in the casing and 4L of spawn, mix it up really good then dump the last L of spawn on top and spread it out level. Then wait. Hopefully all goes well lol.
Something like this, http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=9289857&page=0&vc=1&PHPSESSID=

If you set up a monotub and mixed the spawn with the sub then set that in the dark to colonize would it work?
Or is the casing layer a neccessity?

yes i always said no coir for casing, cuz it colonized almost fully imho, i tried it as a substrate a couple of times with good success though !
i advise to use PEAT MOSS and VERM for casing 50 50

yea i think i will do that instead...i heard coir casing has to many nutrients to be casing...u think WBS spawned to coir and peat moss 50 50 will be good..with some cofee added to the peat moss casing...
sorry to hijack your thread Drevrens lol
