fridge fruiting chambers
    #11670537 - 12/17/09 06:14 PM (15 years, 1 month ago)

i have one dead upright freezer and two mini fridges seen some people use em for fruiting and a incubator

i wanna use the dead upright for the fc the the mini fridges for my wbs incubator. do i even need a incubator if i got a room temp of 75 to 80?

i seen agar's setup and was wondering if i used all three as a fc can i just use one humidifier and run the pipe to all three would it be enough if i ran it 24/7 with a heating pad in it?

what kind of light would i need for the insides?

75 is fine for incubating. it's ideal in fact.

agars setup is badass, but the minifridges are really unnecessary and bulky for such a small internal area, i wouldn't use them. if you insist though, yes: it would work.

BUT: don't use a heating pad.. that is pointless and would probably cause more harm then good.

your humidifier probably wont need to be run 24/7 in a fridge, especially if it's full of trays. i have mine on a 15 on/ 3 hour off cycle, and that is for 16 tubs.

use a 6500 kelvin spectrum CFL for your fridge, they don't emit heat and its the correct wavelength of light.

so a light bulb is better than a heating pad? sweet i got a few cfl from my old mm grow setups.

well the reason for the mini fridges is that Ive had them in my garage for years and they don't work and like to put em to use for something. but definitely using the upright freezer.

i think you misunderstood: cfl bulbs don't emit heat. or very little that is.

a heating pad is unnecessary because 75 is a great temp to incubate and to fruit at.

i understood you i was talking about using the cfl for the light like you suggested.I was gonna use a regular bulb on the bottom wrapped in al foil like agars fruiter.

can i just put the vicks cool mist on the bottom or should i run it out of the fridge.

i just wanna make sure i do it right this is a all new thing for me.

dial in your humidity and temps before you put anything in the fridge, assume the trays of substrate will raise your humidity by at least 10%, but all in all, too high of a humidity is easy to solve, just put it on a timer.

i made a modified version of that with a drip chamber so that multiple tubs could be hooked to it with no water build up in the lines or over saturation of the substrate

overkill? naw dude. as i think the old adage goes: engineers will over-complicate things until they run out of time, money, or both.

i may have quoted that wrong but yeah.... have a blast, go all out, never be satisfied, etc. etc.

http://skycraftsurplus.com/12to24vdcfan-squirrelcageblower.aspx

you will need a transformer and a dimmer for it though. all in all: $50usd.

also a grasp on electronics.

that website, if you contact the customer service, will sell you the right transformer. you will need to be comfortable modding/wiring it all though, and making sure you don't burn your house down.

i bought that when i knew nothing about the difference between dc and ac currents. there may in fact be an easier, better solution than my setup.
