Hi! This is my first cultivation ever and I am kinda lost. My dude shipped me a 4lb rye grain bag and b+ syringe. He gave me instructions over the phone on how to start it and its been going now since Dec. 1st. I cleaned and sterilized everything very proper. still a couple of issues tho. 1. He had me use the entire syringe on the 4lb bag. not just 2 or 3 cc's, he had me use all 10cc's. 2. I don't have a incubator so i just put them up on a shelf. the temp in the room was only about 62degrees for the first 2 1/2 weeks. maybe I am being paranoid but I am not seeing much myc. at all. less than 20% of the entire bottom side of the bag. I was advised to mix what little myc. I do see with everything else just to help get it going. on top of all that i am not even clear about what to do with it all once the bag is fully colonized. i would like to here some thoughts. thanks kindly friends

62 degrees Fahrenheit is way too cold for proper incubation of a cube. I am amazed any mycel grew. 62F, 2 weeks, %20 of the bottom actually sounds right.
Bring the temp up to a constant 80F and it should go nuts. In other words, finish rather quickly. Then let us know.

According to this post, 80F ambient temperature will be too high, as a 4lb spawn bag will be generating quite a bit of its own heat. However, you could likely bump it up to 72 degrees F.

Ok... well I have since moved everything to a new location with a average temp of 75degrees. I also mixed the bag hoping this may distribute myc. growth in new areas. was this wrong? also what are the effects of over saturation of spores?
