express or priority mail?
    #11716072 - 12/25/09 08:58 AM (14 years, 4 months ago)

which one do you prefer/think is safer? over night or 2-3 day delivery?

this is assuming all addresses are real, packaging is normal, and no reason for usps to suspect anything.

careful during the holidays, they step up their checking this time of year. Know from personal experience after a 1oz shipment of some....stuff...was delivered to my home when it was addressed to my PO box. Showed up with a paper, said all i had to do was initial some boxes to deny it, and that was that.

If you are sending something stinky, express it. This way you KNOW when it's guaranteed by, and if it is the least bit late, the jig could be up.

The holidays is actually probably the best time to ship "stuff". There are so many packages, the postal service won't really want to check every package, and in fact, they probably only check 0.1% of all packages during the holiday season. If you just order whatever "stuff" you need, request the seller to send priority mail and tell them to conceal it in a small box. Like a DVD box and make sure the weight of the package isn't suspicious. 1 oz of whatever in a DVD box will never be found.

The problem you made was having the package delivered to your P.O. box. They check A LOT of packages that go to P.O. boxes. Not to mention that it just sits there near a bunch of postal workers, instead of safe on your doorstep or mailbox, away from anyone who might check it.

Tyler is correct, holidays is when they can check the smallest percentage of packages. Express can be opened without a warrant. First class and priority do need a warrant to open unless they go over international borders.

Fund, this is basic knowledge. You could google it as easy as me. So many people like that are out there. If they never heard of it they denounce the person telling them instead of looking it up. I will admit there are exceptions carved into the rule. Bush jr made a signing statement that the executive branch could open mail without a warrant if national security was involved. This has not been tested by the courts. The postal service can open mail if there are credible threats of dangerous materials like bombs inside.

http://www.aclu.org/national-security/aclu-and-cnss-seek-records-warrantless-mail-surveillance

Quote:

NEW YORK - The American Civil Liberties Union and the Center for National Security Studies today filed three Freedom of Information Act requests seeking the immediate release of records related to President Bush’s asserted authority to search Americans’ mail without a warrant. The president claimed this unprecedented authority in a "signing statement" attached to a statute that expressly prohibits opening First Class mail without a warrant.

de·nounce
Function: transitive verb

1 : to pronounce especially publicly to be blameworthy or evil <they denounced him as a bigot>
2 archaic a : proclaim b : to announce threateningly
3 : to inform against : accuse
4 obsolete : portend
5 : to announce formally the termination of (as a treaty)

In what way does requesting a source of your information fall under that definition? Just because you 'know' something doesn't mean it is 'common knowledge'.

In what other form of argument is it the responsibility of a party other than a party who makes an assertion to bear the burden of proof of such a statement?

Quote:

Your article says:
In 1996, the postal regulations were altered to permit the opening of First Class mail without a warrant in narrowly defined cases where the Postal Inspector believes there is a credible threat that the package contains dangerous material like bombs.

Therefore...

Express can be opened without a warrant. First class and priority do need a warrant to open unless they go over international borders.

Is false through your own sources.

1. Leave your emotion at the door, this is Security and saftey. Take that shit to the pub.
2. Don't TL;DR your own sources.
3. This is further evidence as to why the burden of proof lies upon the maker of an assertion, as 'you can just as easily google it' yet you have failed to make your claim.

From what I understand anything that's "first class" or better is protected by requiring a warrant.  They recently changed "first class" to other terms like priority or express.

From what I can tell anything that's not sent as "media mail", "bulk mail", etc. is protected by the constitution against illegal search and seizure.

So just don't send something as junk mail and it will be protected.

Fund, you have a point but if someone says the sun rises in the east, they do not have to provide proof. Looking out the window is better than reading a link. I was just saying that in 2 minutes you could have looked up that info yourself. And yes, priority is protected the same as first class. These are not "extraordinary claims" as you said. As far as i'm concerned, if someone chooses not to believe something, let them not believe it. I really don't care. Arguing never gets anywhere.

asfar as I know, priority/express/firstclass are all considered sealed packages, now bare inmind there are some extenuating circumstances, such as a package ticking, or whatever it may do to motivate the inspector to considered it a danger to the postal workers, and/or i.e. its a bomb or suspected or being so. Besides that a sealed package cannot be tampered with, without a warrent. If that has changed its news to me.

It takes no time at all for them to obtain a warrant, inspect the package, and get it back on the belt, and not cause a delay in delivery (causing the receiver to become suspicious)

I recently had a package containing some herb that was sent to a po box express...i knew the day it was to arrive, and they have all mail in the PO boxes by 10 am. checked the box...empty. got home...few hours later i get a knock at my door with two plain clothes men, and a police officer outside the apartment building. The questioned me about the package, said a drug dog hit the package, and they determined it to be weed. Said a lot of people send weed in the mail during the holidays. I just denied it, they had a piece of paper I had to initial, stating i was denying acceptance or ownership of the package. Guy also asked if i would like to open it, lmao. I was like...nah, i'm good

A friend of mine actually gets shit shipped to him from his brother (fedex next day) from california.  He just got a QP in the mail today, northern lights.

Since both the sender and the package recipient are medical marijuana patients, are they even breaking any laws?
