Lids?
    #11714140 - 12/24/09 09:06 PM (15 years, 26 days ago)

I have seen a few types of lids, ones with whatmans and rubber injection ports, 1/4" hole with polyfill, 1/4" hole w/ tyveck and just a jar ring with a filter disk or tyveck disk.

What does everyone else favor and/or use for their lids?

I used tyvek all season, and in the end went back to polyfil for most of my jars. With an RTV injection port either way.

Thats what I think I am going too stick too. The 1/4" hole w/ poly isnt consistent. Everytime you are going to have different amount +/-.

A lid w/ 5 or so 1/4" holes w/ a Tyveck disc seems to be the way too go, well for myself anyways.

I have only seen one video tek that shows using just a jar ring and a tyveck/filter disk, I am still curious about the effectivness of this.

I'll do a side by side some time and see unless someone chimes in with their 2cents..

 I prefer polyfil. But try tyvek, see what you think.

Have you had faster colonization times with poly?

Thought maybe you got better GE or somthing since thats the point of having poly/tyveck lids in the first place.

You only need enough GE for it to breathe. You aren't adding a turbocharger.
