Has anyone tried "daylight" incandescents?

I think most "daylight" incandescents just mimics it by the coating on the outside of the bulb so its not a true daylight 6500k

If you are talking about the compact flourescent bulbs then yes they work.

He did say incandescents not florescent. He was not referring to CFL's

I've seen them but not tried them.  However, by the nature of heating a piece of metal to get light, 90% of the energy is wasted making heat, not light.  Stick with fluorescent or LED to get the same or better quality light with much less money spent on electricity running it.
