What are some good additives for a straw/horse poo tub grow?

so i have done a bunch of different teks, but because of where i have lived in the past i have only done straw grows (for cubes) twice. both times it was simply (starting on bottom, everything pasturized)a layer of straw, a layer of horse poo, a thin layer of colonized rye. then i would do that process over and over till about 7 inches deep, i would then compress to between 3-5 inches deep and allow to recolonize. now i was using three jars of rye (quart size) for a small 4 inch deep tub with a bottom measure of 24"X16". my yields were okay but not great. so my question is, should i add anything else to the mix? i have some left over coir bricks i could hydrate and throw in? or i heard worm castings worked great, coffe too? dont understand that one. i have searched but no for sure answer. what works best for you guys. also do you case or not? thanks for reading

Gypsum and vermiculite. I would ditch the casing layer there cubes they don't need it. Good luck
Gypsum aid in the developments of the mushrooms use 10-14% of it Vermiculite makes thing nice and fluffy/airy, quicker colonization

I personally like to hydrate the verm separately then add it to the poo and straw. Also add the gypsum to the dry verm before you hydrate it. Then pasteurize and layer it with the colonized grains.
So Verm/Gypsum mix realllly well then/Water mix again very well then add that to the Poo and straw mix realllllly well bring it to field capacity then pasteurize

Can't remember which board it was on but i saw a bulk grow with shredded up straw, coir, gypsum, verm, coffee. Maybe poo too can't remember. I searched for the grow but couldn't find it. I guess try out what works for you.
You don't need to pasturize the coir jus hydrate it, but i'd pasturing the verm, coffee, and gypsum for sure.

If you use straight coir you don't have to pasteurize it but once you start adding things to it you most definitely do

i like to mix the bottem 3/4 of the tub and put a spawn layer down on top of that then one last layer of substrait. this lets me know when i see the top fully colinized the bottom is too. moast people agree that all you need is 4 inches for the depth of the sub.

The coffee needs to be used already. just use coffee grinds that have been used to make coffee already

You can go to any coffee store and ask for a bag. They just throw it away anyways. You only need about a pint for one brick if i'm remembering correctly.

I use 10% of everything by volume. may seem like alot but its not.
So in a 10 cup total bulk your making use 1 cup of gypsum

10% gypsum is fine but no more. Type out your recipe for your sub and we'll let you know how it looks.

I would do 1:4 or 1:5 ratio. 1:10 is spreading it thin
