slow cooker?

hey everyone, merry christmas. my mom just got a slow cooker for christmas... now im not sure if it would work the same as a pressure cooker? if so would i have to do it for longer? if they are able to be used for steralization is there anything i should know about it? this is the slowcooker she got http://www.westbend.com/westbend/catalog.cfm?dest=itempg&itemid=2255&secid=5&linkon=section&linkid=5

I'd like to know as well, I don't have a PC but I do have a slow cooker...
I think it would just sterilize the same as putting your jars in a big pot of water, but maybe it would work better, although you wouldn't be able to do as many jars..

No. A slow cooker is a crockpot. My crockpot will only heat water to 160 degrees F. Thats not even boiling. It might be good for Pasturization of dung though.

Pressure cookers will exceed temperatures of 212 F by building pressure inside, which in turn raises the boiling temperature of water. This will allow the water to stay in liquid form longer so it can gain more heat before becoming gas.

Loop theorist is correct, it will not work.

Dood go to a pawn shop or thrift store, find a PC.

i cant tell either cuz i cant read whatever language it is written in.
There are a ton of places you can find PCs at. Do a google search and look until u find one that gives the specifications.

seems like these forums are not the only place people dont like doing a  search. :frown:
