Word. Evening chaps, I hope you're all good. I'm all comfortably numb with mates, chops and squidgy black on the go. Bit chilly here in Reading tho. I've got my first ever grow of 8 BRF PF cakes happily olonising away. Room temp 20-22, cakes huddled around radiator, fairly steady 25.
Keepers Creepers injected in 3 batches,
!st batch colonised: 70-90% 2nd batch colonised: 3-15% 3rd batch colonised: 85-95%
2nd batch were not whithin a foot of the radiator for a week. 3rd batch of cakes were made with a slightly wetter mix.
I'm planning of fruiting the first two fully colonised cakes the spawning the rest to bulk and perhaps building a little incubator.
WBS costs £5.99 for 5kgs in Countrywide btw
Anyway, cheers all for such a wicked site and priceless source of input. More input, More input!
On a side note, anyone remember the pre-law-change glory-days of Organic Shamanic in Brighton? Loved that place, the way they did loyalty cards. Buy 10 lots of 40g fresh mushies and get 40g of your choice free! Jackpot!!
Anyway, laters peeps, I've got work to do....

Hey buddy! Welcome to the family.
Dude, the old squidgy! Haven't seen that around in many a year! How's the smoke..?

You and me both, my man! My bloody boiler's packed in as of yesterday, so I'm typing this huddled in bed with a space heater on and all my jars lined up in front-goddamn this British December! Though I'm far more frozen than ye-in this skanky old house, my ambient is 15'C!
Edit: Where the fuck are my manners-good luck on the first grow, my good sir! You planning on chucking those cakes in a shotgun..? How's about some pictures to document the occasion?

Alright Buddy, yeah the squidgy's smoking very nicely indeed. Tastes good, smells pukka, such a lush way to be cained too! No school like the old school. Nice antidote to all the overpriced 'highgrade' skunk and sprayed bullshit going round. Everyone even gets to play with their drugs and mold it into comedy items, palm-sized squidgy black handgun being the best so far!
...but yeah, the cakes'll be going into a shotgun, what sort've times have I got til harvesting from then? No rush, a few years bonsai experience have done wonders for my patience!
Oh drat! Just remembered I'm away visiting the 'rents 24th-28th. Hypothetically, if I've got cakes fruiting in a shotgun, will they fail if I'm not about to fan them? Should I; get a fan set up on a timer? build a FC that looks after itself? Get a mate to babysit while I'm away? Spawn to bulk? hmmmmmm......advice please.
Cheers chaps, hope you all have a good day, I'm going out for a stroll round the woods in the snow!!!!

When you go away to your rents just put a fan in the room, not pointed directly at the FC and it should be ok. If theres some air flow in the room then they should survive. If your mate knows what to do then thats a good idea and so is spawning to bulk. Its your call.
emptyvessal nice linkage, have you bought that rye grain before?? cos its cheaper that WBS i wanna know the quality, i sent that company an email btw.
EDIT: I have also found on ebay a bulk lot for culture vials for master slants or small LCs, if you are interested PM me and we could pool up to get tham as i dont need 72. The are fully autoclavable if you want them Ill even make you some LCs or masters and send them ready to use.

Try your local tropical fish shop. They sell fluorescent tubes in a variety of colour temps. In particular, look for the word 'Actinic' indicating strong blue spectra. These are normally used for coral. The pink 'grolux' type are best for aquarium plants. The actinics can be 6000-7200k or more, it's usually printed on the box.
B&Q sell dessicators of varying types.
