Why no girls?
    #1168970 - 12/25/02 06:53 AM (14 years, 11 months ago)

Why is it that all the regulars in this forum seem to be guys?  Every now and then a lone female will drop by and say something, but for the most part our family here is made up of only males!

Are they scared of us?
Or do girls just not think about spirituality, philosophy and science??

I think that having female viewpoints on the issues and ideas that we discuss here would do this forum a lot of good!  Too much testosterone can be a bad thing!

Besides...
You can't have a family without any females!  Who's gonna have the babies then??

We could abduct a few, lock them in a room and make them post.

I think that women (in general) are more comfortable accepting things that they are told without question. Family and relationships are more important to them than solving the secrets of the universe.

Or conversely, they intuitively understand that all of our discussions really lead nowhere and have better things to do (such as shopping!).

i just don't ever really post anymore because i never know how to put my thoughts into words in a way that would make sense .

As if that were a requirement....

But really, it took me months of writing (with a dictionary and thesaurus close by) before I was expressing myself accurately.  Actually, I find it more fun here when I don't get my words right the first time and someone takes a jab, thus challenging me to refine what I thought I was saying.  The next time that thought arises, I can express it more clearly.  It's what discussions are all about.

So I'd like to see you posting more often.  And don't take it personally if I give you a hard time about something you wrote (see the disclaimer)... we're all friends here (except for Mr_Mushrooms... I hate that guy! ).

why do you say that , i don't exactly like or dislike my computer , its useful but i don't depend on it . and what should being a girl have anything to do with disliking computers , the only thing that separates girl from boy is thier reproductive organs, i think some girls and boys can be equally shallow or equally not shallow.
not that being shallow has anything to with it .

There are plenty of female members here at The Shroomery... It's just that none of them seem to post in this forum!

You are right, though... I've found that most of the females I've met do not like computers as much as guys.  And they suck at video games, too!

Sclorch-  I still keep a dictionary and thesaurus close-by when I'm writing!  Glad I'm not the only one who does that...

Munchi-  Sclorch is right... The only way to get better at something is to practice!  I know... "Practice makes perfect, blah blah blah..."  But it's true!

Oh, and being watched is fun!  I've found it to be even more exhilirating than watching others!  We are talking about posting on message boards here... Aren't we?

We need a lady trailblazer for the S&P suffragette movement and you have been nominated, munchi. You are now required by law to submit 10 posts per month.

So it has been written; so it shall be.

Yep, like Sclorch is saying, practice makes perfect, and we learn from our mistakes. I agree with everything you said sclorch, and it took me quite awhile before I could start new threads, I used to just dwell in others.

Man when I think of my older posts, I had no clue how to convey any sort of thought into writing, I'd look at it the next day and be like "WTF what the hell is that supposed to mean??!?"... and im still pretty god awful at it but im getting better.
