AA's are good, but you can find top quality PC's on ebay for much cheaper. I'd have 3 or 4 AA's if I had the $ and space, but that simply isn't the case.
Some good brands to look for are maid of honor and national. They are both stainless steel, not the cheap aluminum PC's they make today. I got my 16qt maid of honor for $20.
Not so much for you, as I see you are looking at a rather large PC, but just spreading the word, that there are other top quality options.

I've been using medical autoclave where you can set pressure and never looking back. Its around 38 qt and super easy to use and has built in timer (starts after pressure is reached). But if you want PC then AA is good for sure.

AA's are machined aluminum, and i would venture to guess that so are the brands that you listed.

AA is top of the line and can't be touched by anything being produced today. They'll last for generations. Avoid anything made in china. RR

Hey, is there any other country besides the US and China that even makes pressure cookers? Maybe India? You'd think any nation with a space program would have pressure cookers...

Oh, agreed. I'm just asking for general knowledge. They are used in commercial cooking worldwide- rice, for example, or beans, are cooked under pressure for restaurants and such. But what about for home/personal use- what's out there besides those two countries? Do other nations buy their pressure cookers from the US or China instead of making them?

^^^ 50 years ago, they still made them from steel. But I'm sure the new ones are durable too.

Honestly, that's always been one of my concerns about buying an AA. I'm not a girly-man, but my aluminum P23 weighs enough that I don't move it around when it's loaded. I've wondered about the strength-to-weight of steel vs Al. But now that doesn't matter, so when I get my next new pressure cooker, it'll (probably) be an AA.

Steel is stronger than aluminum, thus aluminum is always made thicker. Stainless steel PCs run around 14 to 12 gauge. The cast aluminum AA PCs are about ten times that thickness. In addition, so-called stainless steel from china will rust. RR

Understood- but steel is denser. My question involves the weight of the final product. Is a steel PC lighter or heavier than an aluminum one of comparable capacity?

i thinkthe steel ones were pretty heavy (~30lbs), and the descriptions i have gotten from other people lead me to believe the aluminum, although thicker perhaps, is lighter.
i could be wrong though. i've had the same PC for many moons.

So when I upgrade, I want a new AA, not a used one.

I've not seen a steel AA. Even the old ones have been aluminum. Were the old ones steel? If so, it was before my grandma's time. RR

no clue, i just know my aa921 weighs at least 25-30lbs, has no labels or identifying marks on it anymore, and doesnt feel/sound like aluminum when you tap on it.
but neither does my grandma.
