    #11665939 - 12/16/09 11:28 PM (14 years, 2 months ago)

A friend of mine cut off this nice section of a prickly pear cactus while in Texas, I am unsure of the species and was wondering if someone could please help me make a proper ID on this one.

Thanks

They are spines.

This link will explain why they cause epic blowage once stuck in some painful spot of your finger, or in your experience ferrel_human the mouth.

You can easily remove glochids from your fingers by scraping them off using a very sharp razor blade (those you use for grafting on pereskiopsis)

Scraping a couple of times keeping the blade in a hook of 90 degrees will do the trick.
