Bacillus mysterious

After soaking grain for 24 hrs, rinsing and draining, pressure-cooking for an hour and 15 min., shaking and inoculating under very clean conditions, how is Bacillus going to show up and fuck up all kind of plans . The jars haven?t stalled, despite the seeming bacteria problem, and one of them is almost fully there. This may be just stupid, but is there any way to kill the Bac. without harming the myc.? Thaks in advance for any help.

hmmm.. sounds like you should reevaluate where you are getting your grain from. Some sources of grain carry high contaminant endo/spore loads. If you jars aren't stalling then it could be a benign type of bacillus. I have cased bacillus tainted jars before with excellent fruit at harvest. These jars should not be used as grain masters, but can otherwise be fruited. Just be sure of the nature of the bacillus species that you are dealing with before you decide to chow down. good luck and merry xmas.

They (quart jars) were going to be used to spawn poo. I don't want to make a mistake that would mess all that up, so I might case them as you mentioned. Thanks, and happy holidays to you too .

I guarantee you will get satisfying results if you do a fractional sterilization with the pressure cooker!

Do you mean now? And, sorry to ask this too, but how long? Thanks for the reply.

Its too late now but on your next grow. Just sterilize as you would normally do. Repeat. Repeat. Then innoculate.

See there might not be enough heat to kill the most hardy spores but after they germinate they aren't so tough.
