Re: cut it off??

Its been awhile since I tried to grow off of a jar cake but I remember a blue tint and the cake began to age. Probably the top is drying out or nutrient is being sucked to the bottom. Hope this helps

What strain are you growing?
Did you have 'invitro pinning' before birthing? What are cakes sitting on?

sounds like what typically happened to my friend's cakes. Especially brf+rice, cakes tend to bruise blue as they dry out. What I thought it might be was the water draining to the bottom of the cake, or heat from your light source drying them out.

Maybe try PF's double-ended casing technique for those guys.

I'm assuming its not actually a contam but bruising.

First of all it is PF spores.

I had a 25 watt bulb and didn't expect it to create a lot of heat. Anyway I came in and checked them out and ot was over 95 degrees inside the chamber. I thought I had wasted a month for an hour of scorching.

But they are durable.

Thanx

That's not contamination, it's just your cake drying out. When you were making the substrate you didn't include enough water, OR, more likely, the cake took too long during germination/incubation and the needed nutrients are now used up.

I had this program before and tried the double-ended casing tek... it helped a little bit. Best thing to do is just be more careful next time.
