Coca Coir???
    #1167176 - 12/24/02 08:39 AM (22 years, 29 days ago)

ive looked everywhere for coca coir. everyone i talk to says they dont have it or they dont know what im talking about. what is coca coir? what does it look like? can i get it in california? ive been to petsmark, pet world and some smaller reptile shops and asked for it. this one dude knew i wanted to grow shrooms with it so he gave me this other stuff called "Jungle Mix - Lizard Litter." he said "dont worry about it man, we get all kinds of people in here lookin for grow supplies." but anyway, this stuff contains:
- sterilized virgin organic soil, fine grain sand, vermiculite, peat moss, orchid bark and green tree moss. all natural, nontoxic, and pest-free.

so does anyone think this stuff would work for a casing layer? and if ANYONE can send me some links with pics of coca coir, or its full name, or anything. thanks

Go to Petsmart, or PJ's Pet Center, and look for reptile bedding it will be in the reptile section, it will go by the name of Forest Bed (at least at PJ Pet pets thats what its called).
Thats in Canada though...
Look for Bed a Beast too in the U.S

If you have ever seen a coco nut with the husk on it then you can gather what coco coir looks like. You can find sheets of coco coir at home depo, they are used for those hanging plants to hold the soil. Some preperation is required with these mats, such as cutting it so it is no longer in a mat. Be sure to add vermiculite to the coir... helps the casing prevent drying.

You can get it at nursureys or plant stores... they most usually have it. Its actually usually just next to the peat moss
