pour quarts/cups/gallons/etc of water into your tub until you have 5 inches.
now you know how much substrate/spawn you need to fill it.
break it down into a 2:1 ratio for best results.

I have an 18 gallon. One brick of coir to one quart verm/gypsum/coffe Works perfect for 4 inches. Here is an awesome coir tek.
I did my first 18 gallon with 9 PINT jars of substrate, making 4.5 quarts worth. You are going to want at least 4 quarts, that would make 16 half pint jars. I guess you could use less, but it seems to colonize way slower than grains. If you do use grains, you could do 6-8 quart jars for your tub, probably would be nicer

if you are going to use pftek jars, blend those suckers in a food processor before spawning.

I normally do 18 gallon blue sterilite tubs for my mono..
I put one brick of coir 2 quarts verm and 5-6 quarts of spawn and it usually fills the tub up to a depth of about 4 inches.

You are going to want the sub depth to be right at the bottom of your lower holes. If not CO2 will "pool up" in the inch above your sub causing issues later when you start to pin/fruit the tub.
