Alcohol vs Bleach for sterilization

I have a mister that I put rubbing alcohol in and spray the shit out of the dead air box and the area around my work station. I have read that many people use a a h20 bleach combination instead of alcohol. My question is which one do you use and which do you think is better?

Warm soapy water, rinse with clear water, air dry. That's all you need for a still air box, I promise.

Alcohol and bleach both have there uses. I like alcohol for swabbing inoculation ports and using on my gloves/tyvek sleeves and rubbing down agar bottles. Bleach water solution is great for fruiting chambers and general clean up around the area. H2o2 is great to run thought perlite or to add to a PMP's water and to combat cobweb

Is there a ratio to use for h2o2 when one uses perlite? I am getting close to making a changer and this is good to know.

Zero. No need for peroxide, except to combat cobweb mold if you are unlucky enough to see it.

No, I don't spray alcohol ever for any reason. Edit- sometimes I'll wipe something up with alcohol on a paper towel if it's slimy or icky. But not for routine cleaning.

Or oust, or lysol, or anything else for that matter. All useless for mycology, IMO. My PC keeps everything sterile that needs to be sterile.

Oust/Lysol/alcohol won't kill mold spores, the first 2 being expensive, another reason they have no use in mycology. What got everyone started using these things? Alcohol will kill any bacteria you run into.

As will exposure to atmospheric oxygen, or UV light from sunlight or other sources. Also they die if they dry out.

Change of pace- what does your local hospital use to clean the operating rooms? Bleach? Alcohol? Or something like Formula 409?
