This site says:
http://www.lycaeum.org/leda/docs/16105.shtml?ID=16105
"Let`s talk about a location for these wonderous creatures. Clumps of grass, yes that`s right clumps of grass. You can look at a clump of grass as if it was a terrium. The grass will act like a barrier and keep humidity at a high level for well over 6 days. If the humidity level ever drops to low, take a hand mister and spray until the desired level of humidity is reached. The grass will then help with a couple of things by filtering the sun and absorbing CO2 during the day."
What if you covered your cakes in clumps of grass clippings. Would that work as a casing layer?

Hahaha, that sounds funny, but you could always try it and report back . I would think, though, that grass is nutritious and would maybe get colonized my the myc instead of being a non-nutritious casing layer, but I really don't know, hmm.

I was thinking that but I have a feeling that if the clippings are fresh then the myc wouldn't be able to munch on them. I think it might be a matter of keeping the clippings green while you're fruting. You'd probably also need a whole lot of clippings in order to keep the moisture in.

it means live grass, how is dead rotting grasss gonna absorb C02
They plant and fungi feed off each other in nature, funghi releases c02 grass turns it into fresh 02 and the fungi breathes it in and repeats the cycle..
