(C) Citigroup
    #11667659 - 12/17/09 11:21 AM (14 years, 3 months ago)

All I have to say is wow. This stock is so stupidly influenced by media its insane. Its getting close to breaking the world record for volume. (Again)

Read between the BS and buy in for the long run. Q4 earnings are due next month and it will most likely be bad, but that's just another way of influencing the market. Look at insider activity... insiders have bought MILLIONS of shares this month (source:e*trade) and they know the company is not going under. As I said its ALL media driven currently.

Omg TARP!!!1 BAIL!!! Jump ship! The world is ending.

OMG THEY ARE TRYING TO BUY BACK SHARES!!!!! JUMP SHIPPPPPP FUCK!!!!! 3.15 WHAT A JOKE!

I'm surprised there isn't a thread about this yet. Sell your house, sell your car, pawn your jewelery and put ALL of your money into them. Lol

I'm joking about that I hope you know, but I do encourage a buy. A strong one.

ALSO... check out PEIX for a 10 year+ investment. If you have morales against using gasoline, buy PEIX. You will be rich one day, as will I.

Just lookin out for the mushroom community.

One last thing... who's to say it won't continue falling? Maybe now is not the time to buy. If it drops below $3 per share... maybe to 2.75. I will buy about another $1000's worth.

Just my 2 cents. Keep an eye out though and I do encourage you to do your own research. Insiders don't buy shares of a failing company.

I don't know a whole lot about C, but to me it seems like the kind of stock you trade and not invest in.  U could probably make some decent money off of it, but you could probably loose it too.  It's a bit risky for me.  The insiders might be just doing the pump and dump like everyone else to try and make a buck off of it as opposed to actually seeing inherent value in the company.

That could be true. Once they get some good news it will "recover". With all honesty I don't think anythings wrong with it. The media has percieved it as being bad. Its a good investment. Since they are still under the TARP program, they aren't paying any fat bonuses. They can't.

Can't wait til that blanket is lifted.

of course, but some stocks more than others.  Look at fnm.  That fucker goes up and down 30% like a goddamned rollercoaster.  And there's no fundamental reasons for any of the moves.  Worst yet, I own that piece of shit.

Of course it is. You can actually find out how much a company is worth per share. So... not a news flash.

You could always play by their rules too. That can be exciting and risky and you'd have to watch it all day. Even during pre market and after hours.

As I said in an earlier post. Read between the bullshit. :0)

Look at all the numbers, balance sheets, P/E Ratios. Cash flow.

I got in at $3.80 a few months ago and rode it to $5. Watched it as it started to come down and sold at $4.25.

Now I'm in it to win it again. lol

Hang in there. I've got a $2.80 target on my short (doesn't mean that prices will hit it), but so far, so good. When I get the first hint of a breakout to the upside, i'm going to be on the bid, like a big dog.

I dont know. The author of this article doesnt seem too impressed w/ Citigroup's insider buying...

Quote:

Citigroup insiders bought a remarkably small amount of their own stock during the past six months–virtually nothing, in fact. Managers have bought stock on only five occasions during the past six months, and only 2.7 million shares’ worth (by contrast institutions bought 3.7 billion shares in that period).

What does everyone's thought on which would be better to own in the long run:

BAC or C?

They both are long term investments. C is appealing because of the price. BAC does pay dividends. Only 1 penny for now. I also hold shares of BAC and have my dividends revested. C allows you to double, triple, and quadrupole your money. Of course that's over the long term and in their case... The long term could be 10 years or what have you. I actually recently moved my CFP investment into CAG. I got in at 22.10 and they had great Q2 results. I will retain both investments in C and BAC.

Also, I read your qoute of my post... I typed "last month," I meant year. Big difference and I apologize.

Happy trading!

Also, some analyst upgraded CAG to buy with a target of $28. Currently $23. CAG is a GREAT dividend payer. If you follow www.fool.com, they highly suggest CAG as a dividend stock. I wish I could have gotten in at $16ish.. haha.. Coulda shoulda woulda, etc.

Just to do a quick follow up on this since 2009 is officially over and all insider trades have been reported to the SEC...

C insiders purchased a total of 9,795,517 shares for 2009. Insiders were also awarded 9,339,699 shares. There was only ONE insider that sold. That sad soul sold 90243 shares at about 1.23 I believe. His name is Bischoff Winfried.

Now for comparative purposes, I pulled up (JPM) Chase to see what that insider activity was like. Keep in mind, this isn't too long after acquiring WaMu.

JPM insiders purchased a total of 506,600 shares during 2009. They were awarded only 102503 shares. Now... they did receive stock gifts totaling 60,515 shares.
They also sold a total of 236208 shares in 2009...

Sorry for sort of ressing an old thread..... but its for the sake of KNOWLEDGE...and money...!!!!!!

So I googled him and check this out...

Ahh... Gotta love wiki!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winfried_Bischoff

He sold all of his shares because he pretty much got "ran out" of the company! He was probably forced to sell. Something beyond his own personal control. The mans filthy rich anyway I'm sure. He probably didn't care too much. lol...

If you account for the price difference between JPM and C, management in both companies invested about the same. Assuming C trades at 1/15 of JPM's price. You could make an argument with the awarded options, that C's management were overpaid. Their sole responsibility is to provide performance, which it appears they haven't done.

Either way, I agree, it's too cheap not to own an even lot. The maximum loss on 100 shares is what $350? The upside could be much higher in the next few years.

I had an active bid at $3.20 when the stock reached that level, but it never took. :frown:
Really could've used it too, after the schmiessing I'm taking on Google's earnings report after hours...
