Got a bonsai pot for him yesterday.

Can't wait for it to grow more and look REALLY good in here :yesnod:

Wish I could get rid of the unsightly scarring though

Oi. You're like my grandmother. I think the scarring gives it character.

I'm not sure but I prefer deeper vases for drainage's sake.

I'd like to point out that the potting itself is really artistically done. Great job with the form, balance, and colour choices.  I can't think of a much better way to present it.  Often we tend to get so focused on the collection aspect that we take the time to present the plants we have in a visually pleasing way.  I'm a victim of this myself.  I believe there's a lot to be said in the art of growing plants.  The bonsai masters certainly think so anyway.

Thanks horticulture, being an art student myself I try to get things as aesthetically pleasing as possible.

Especially because working with bonsai forces the artist to work with all the elements and principles of design.

Felix: it actually has a lot of rootspace to grow in and the mixture is a very quick draining mix.

The inside of the pot is unglazed so water will be rapidly absorbed.

Lastly, it's going to be indoors with me regulating the waterings so I feel it should fare well

If I were potting it for the outdoors and not as an ornamental I would certainly put it in a deeper pot, but I wanted to explore a new way of displaying.

Me neither

He'll get lots of summer sun hopefully, and that should get it growing nice.
