I prefer straight frowardness and honesty to subtle (usually sarcastic) nuance.

Say what you mean and mean what you say.

why the facepalm? I think r.e. iz right, it saves a lot of time not having to interpret semi-sarcastic implicity whilst having a philosophical discussion. Also in written text it merely leads to misunderstanding caused by it's multi-interpretable nature.

i don't find the interpretation that difficult.  some might, but why should anyone conform to anyone else's standards.

is it truly such a big sacrifice? if you don't want to take other people into account may I suggest not conversing with them? is what you are trying to achieve with this discussion a practice of your skills at sarcastic implications, or are you trying to get your views across as clear and to as many people as possible so as to receive feedback and constructive criticism from them?

It's his choice whether he wants to continue discussions with me. I have just laid down my terms is all.

If someone cannot say what they mean and mean what they say in an honest and straightforward way, then there is usually little point in investing effort in having a discussion with them.

P.S. As I said in another discussion, I do not have any respect or tolerance for Post-Modern Obscurantism.

I'll try to remember this. It will be an appropriate reminder of the soil you come from in the event another thread like this one Verifiable Truth and Proof Vs Post-Modern Nonsense comes up again.

i'm not talking about conforming to culture.

if someone tells you to act a certain way, are you going to conform to their expectations of what they want out of you, or realize this is a toolish way to be?

Culture is the accumulation of a peoples wishes and expectations. You don't get it me thinks. You think you're a really free individual.:thumbup: Carry on then.

a few people's expectations are not the accumulation of people's wishes and expectations.

if my co-worker wants me to be his bitch am i going to be his tool and do what he says, or not take it up the ass?

i don't usually take orders like a toolish sheep unless it is necessary for keeping my current situation at the flow it is now.  and everything seems to be going alright
