Non-Nu-B easiest way to reduce Humidity
    #1164761 - 12/23/02 09:36 AM (21 years, 3 months ago)

What is the easiest way of lowering humidity without introducing contams. My first casing attempt has given about 40 aborts. I found out that my hydrometer was faulty and my humidity is around 95%. I fan 4 times a day, but the humidity doesn't go any lower than 90%. Ive heard of using bubblers, papertowls, and bowls of vermiculite.

To the Pros out there, what method should I go for?

Cut holes in the fruiting chamber...and cover with filter disc material or Tyvek.

If you want lower humidity with a casing I suggest not using any perlite.

Just use a bubbler and a spray bottle.

good luck!

Roadkill, I have two holes in my terrarium covered with myco-filter discs with computer fans mounted blowing air inwards. I also crack the top lid to look in every few hours.

I used to have a bubbler (diffuser stone submerged into h20/h2o2).
That gave me a bit too much humidity so now i run my airpump through
a small can (the kind that you store rolls of photography film in) filled with
polyfill. Some don't bother filtering the air at all...

Today I have been experimenting with the computer fans trying to figure out how long to leave them on. With the filter discs on them they don't blow in very much air. It appears that if I left them on all time that it would keep the rH to around 76% which is what I want. Is it a problem though to be pushing in this much air? Will it leave enough CO2 to properly form new pins?
