Poo Problem

I got some horse poo from some stables by my house but they are COVERED! with wood shavings, I have been there for real long trying to get them out and I give up... Im just going to Home Depot and buy some dry cow poo. Just to ask is there a big gap in the diffrence between the outcome of spawning into horse poo and cow poop.

cow poo is superior if you get the right kind. Your probably not going to find anything good at home depot, i never did...

I talked to one of the nurseries by here and they say that Home Depot sells composted manure and dehydrated. I sure someone has tried this successfully so which one is best?

I'd say go for it try both to see if one will work but make sure you mix em with peatmoss and vermiculite to lighten up the dung. I still think they won't be any good but you should try but only use a small amount of poo and spawn to test it that way you'll know whether or not the poo will colonize or not. That way in case it doesn't work you still have some cakes left over and it won't be a total loss

I assume you say home depot poop as in some sort of manure or compost? What kind is it. Most of these store bought ones are useless or very weak compared to real shit. Unless the depot now carries real poop?
if your gonna use it, psilo made a good point; just test a small ammount.
peace

Well I called a nursery to see if they sold cow manure or horse manure and they said no but that home depot does carry compost and dehydrated cow manure. I don't know what to take of that but oh well. I do have some horse shit that I shoveled myself from some stables but it has wood shavings everywhere and I was told I cant use it like that. But then www.sporelab.com sells shit with shavings so i'm starting to think that maybe I should just use what I have.

The shavings shouldnt hinder much IMO. And if you shoveled it yourself, i guess it was free.
EDIT: dehydrated cow manure would work too

Wow...looks like you're in deep shit!
I am not very experienced in horse-shit-picking, but the last closeup photo, looks pretty sick shit.
I am not shure if it's a good idea to use it, then again, it might just be the photo... But i think green shit is not the way. It looks brown on that table tho... Is that the only green piece of shit?

Just make sure its damn dry when you use it, I like to lay it out in the back yard on a tarp, the sun seems to help lots.

does it look contaminated?
those chips dont look like they will be a problem. Contams, on the other hand, would probally best be avoided

This is what I say you do, take all the poo, put it on a tarp in your backyard for a couple of days, if not weeks. Let the poo dry out real good, then pasteurize and use.

I think your set up sounds great. Just dry out the shit, pastuerize, and make some magic. Keep us updated on how you do it and if everything works out. Personally I like cow shit better, but both have worked well. Go for it.

Do you know if the dung is wet from it being fresh or did it get rained on before you got it?
Dude has tried composted manure from Depot with good results. At the time, depot had compsted manure in de-scented and regular. Dude went with regular because the de-scented was composted longer.

Yep Im going to post in a few days or weeks when the shit is dry as a bone, this is going to take a while.

I was there pretty early in the morning I didnt rain the night before and it looks pretty fresh and not just wet to me. Sounds kind of nasty but the wetness is all over on the inside, how could I explain if you break it in half the outside is drier and the inside is just fresh.

Well I thought that it would work, People say to go buy it at homedepot here all the time I didnt think it was a problem... Also the home depot around here sells dehydrated cow manure so I guess that would be a bit better. I want to try it but later, when I see what happens with the horse stuff I have drying.

I will say, dung makes a difference in potency and mushroom size.
Thats why I try so hard, now my friends can never say I dont love them, spending my vcation drying shit.

Hey Ralphster, ever read the top sticky post on the Vendor forum?

Now, if you mentioned your dung in passing, thats alright, but this is an advertisement.
Sorry about being an ass, but you've been one yourself lately.

That looks like some very fine horse poo ralph!
I recomend letting the poo dry out in the sun because the UV rays will stop contams from taking over.
EDIT: Hey psilocybinjunkie I haven't seen you for ..... gosh ages!
