What I meant was that for me, the shpongle songs (atleast the ones I've listened to) have the same overall character/feel to them. Again... this is just IMHO

Strumpling said: I don't see how you were comparing it to Shpongle (Cept maybe various aspects of the percussion progression), but its pretty cool man I'm suprised I'd never heard of these guys
Gong has quite a few songs that are very spacy and atmospheric, which is why I thought of them when listening to Shpongle... As far as I know (and I might be wrong here) they are from France. They never got any "mainstream" (or even underground) status... not sure why, but I guess they have quite a cult following. I don't know anybody who has heard of them, I myself was just introduced to them last week by a friend from Kazhakistan... no idea how he heard about them. Anyway, check out some of there stuff... some is very jazz/fusion like. Others are simply psychedelic "pop" tunes (Pothead Pixies, for example). But some are really spaced out and atmospheric... kinda like Shpongle. Glad to increase your musical enjoyment!

Kickass, Krishna - I'll have to check them out as well! Maybe now they'll get "underground status" via a shroomery revival? ;-)

' 'Divine Moments of Truth' is incredible, one of my fav tracks. Those dijereedoo sounds are crazy.'
Actually the sample used by simon p. on shpongles track DMT (Divine Moments of Truth) is mainly mongolian throat singing and not a didj - but i understand what you mean all the same I dont dislike psytrance at all - so dont get me wrong. But i do prefer the softer mor ambient stuff... Infected mushroom are crap in my opinion not because they are psytrance, but because most of their work sounds like it was sequenced on protracker on an amiga and would take about five minutes to sequence with dubious samples. My albumcomes out in march afterhuge delayes so stay tuned...
